Breast Augmentation Newport Beach

Breast augmentation on the surface is simply increasing the size of the breast with a saline or silicone implant, but it is also about accentuation and balance. A well-performed breast augmentation helps to accentuate the breasts and at the same time balance the chest with the shoulders, tummy, hips, and butt. Thus, creating or accentuating the “hour-glass” appearance.

The Breast Augmentation Procedure

Breast augmentation surgery is an invasive procedure that involves making incisions to insert silicone or saline breast implants. It is performed under anesthesia and can take about one to one and a half hours to complete. After the incisions are made, the implants are inserted behind the breast tissue or the chest muscle.

Silicone vs Saline Implants

There are two types of implants patients can choose from. One is saline and the other is silicone. Saline implants are filled with a salt water-based solution while silicone implants are filled with a type of gel. Saline implants are inserted empty and are filled after they are properly placed. Silicone implants come pre-filled and are carefully placed in the treatment area before the incisions are closed.

Candidates For Breast Augmentation

Good candidates for breast augmentation are women dealing with small or asymmetrical breasts. It can also be a useful solution for restoring volume after pregnancy or breastfeeding. Patients considering this procedure should be in good physical health and have realistic expectations. Dr. Nykiel will perform a full examination of your body and ask you about your medical history to determine if breast augmentation is the right choice for you.
